Pain Information
Most people pay a visit to either their doctor or hospital and after the relief of having spoken to a medical expert has worn off, invariably cannot remember what they have been told. This is not unusual and neither does it mean that you haven’t paid attention.
Generally, the terminologies used by clinicians are quite different from those we all use in everyday language, so it shouldn’t be surprising that we get confused by the information we are given. In fact, even if you felt you understood what your doctor was telling you in your consultation, it may not all make sense by the time you get home.
Research has shown that most people do not feel confident that they understand the information they receive from clinicians, whether it is related to an illness, a new piece of medical apparatus or prescribed medications.
Many people also turn to the internet when they feel they don’t get the understandable information they need from their doctors about their health issues. However, in most cases, this only serves to make matters worse!
For this reason, PainSolv® commissioned the preparation of a Pain Library that delivers information in plain English, written in a way that the vast majority of us can easily understand and even remember. You will find information on many conditions, diseases and injuries on this site and in many cases, you will be able to print out the Fact Sheets so that you may keep anything that is of particular relevance to your health personal health issues, or those of a family member or friend.
Understanding what is happening with a particular condition can actually help with self-help management and can also reduce anxiety levels considerably.
You can access this free health information by entering your search term in the Quick Search box on the home page of this site, or simply click on the entry in the left hand column for the condition you are interested in learning more about.
